2025 - 26 was a year full of activities under the team headed by Dr. Atul Kulshrestha. Version five of the online certificate course was launched & conducted by Dr. Sajesh Asokan, immediate past president of GSI. A one day training program was organized at the Annual GSIcon-25. The Mid-Term conference was organized by Dr. P.C. Dash at Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Based on the guidelines for selection of fellows , 7 people were selected and fellowship of GSI conferred at a special convocation ceremony during the 38th Annual Conference of GSI - GSICON 2025, at Hotel Clarks Shiraz, Agra on 12-14 December 2025, organized under the able guidance of Dr. Atul Kulshrestha; Dr. Sunil Bansal and Dr. Kailash Vishwani . The inaugural Late Dr. Premanand Ambali National Best Thesis Award in Geriatrics & Gerontology, instituted by Dr. Anand P. Ambali in the memory of his late father, was also presented at the conference.
GSI also brought out Indian Guidelines for Evaluation and Management of Sarcopenia under the able guidance
of our Secretary General, Dr. O.P. Sharma, with support from Meghmani Life Sciences...

de-facto the Presidential Oration.

We are now into 2026-27, and a new team with a wider regional representation has assumed office under the
leadership of the President, Dr. Chinmoy Kumar Maity. The year (2026-27) has several activities already
lined up.
The Midterm National Conference is scheduled to be held on 18th &19th April, 2026 at Ahmedabad, wherein
Dr. Satish Gulati & Dr. Rita Gulati Oration and Sri Sunku Subrahmanyam Memorial Oration shall be
conferred.
The Annual conference for 2026 will be organized by Dr. Chinmoy Maity, President, at Biswa Bangla
Convention Centre from 18-20 September, 2026.
The Version-VI of the online Certificate Course in Geriatrics and Gerontology is scheduled to start on 1st
May, 2026. It will be a three month course with classes twice a week followed by an online examination and
practical training for the successful candidates
Members are requested to actively participate in GSICON 2026, i.e. Midterm at Ahmedabad and Annual at
Kolkata; contribute articles in IJGC, involve GSI in their activities & send the activity reports for IJGC
for the Newsletter.
